Alternative fashion week invited the founder of Fashion Takes Action to talk about sustainable fashion. Kelly Drennan talks about the importance of the story behind the garment. Things like the type of fabric, re-purposing clothing, fare trade labor, slow fashion, creating timeless pieces, etc. Here’s a 2:34 minute video of her opening speech.
She also mentions that sustainable fashion has come a long way. It is now just as progressive and forward as “regular” fashion.
Her membership site has tools to help promote sustainable fashion brands. If this is you, you will definitely want to check this out.
Sustainable fashion infiltrates London’s main shopping areas: King’s Road – I took a stroll down the King’s Road today, to organise a shopping itinerary for a client. Obviously, I’ll try and mix in as many Slow fashion brands or pieces as possible into a shopping consultation, so I was keeping my eyes open for anything in this area today. I am glad to report I did find a little something to show that sustainable fashion really is (slowly, and no pun intended) infiltrating the high street.[source]
